i <3 you

you put a gorgeous piccolo melody in the beginning, backed with brass....very advanced of an idea...and it worked.(i play piccolo haha) i feel that more needs to be with the drums and the climaxing of the song. i'm a huge fan of timpanis and gongs and percussion in general. a timpani that crescendos into a big impact moment.....that would be so amazing. also at 1:22 mark, the piano melody is gorgeous, i would like a little triangle or chimes to add to the effect. i'm so far beyond impressed with your orchestration thus far. the ending could use much more of a grand finale in my opinion. nice work overall! i'm jealous!

PenguinSam responds:

Okay, I need to try some of that. Also, this song is WAY unfinished, so that's whay there was a weird ending. And I really like the piano part too. :p

<PS>

gorgeous

i love love love oriental sounding music.i feel that a little bell, a few little twangs on a koto, or other equally oriental sounding instrument would add so much. even a gong or deep timpani. the melody is beautiful! if you just bring a few more chinese elements into the mix it could be quite an epic orchestral piece. i think an even deeper cello or bass would fill it out quite a big. BIG props for the melody line and the smoothness. You can just kind of zone out into your own little zen garden to this song.

why....

...aren't you famous already?! i <3 this, and your style. i think i'm in the process of downloading all you have out. the snare is a bit loud. perhaps an even deeper, louder bassdrum. and definitely a bassline would fill it all out.i really like the tone of the guitar line. has a mix of classic rock and current heavy-metal. very impressive!

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

Famous? haha. No, I don't know what I'd do. LOL. But thank you. I agree with all you said, and the final music has been changed. Sadly, no bass. I do have one..but..its broken. Finest money I've ever spent.
Anyways, thanks again...and stay tuned...I'm gonna definitely want you to voice something for me:D

WOW!

love the bassline and the distorted synth. what a strong, driving song.i actually am a huge fan of the more rock-oriented drums you used as opposed to the typical kick and electronic drums typically used. well done!!! do you use fruity loops to make you bassline? would love to know your secret lol! thanks for the song!

Marks-a-lot responds:

Yeah, I used fruity loops to make everything then acid to tie it all together. thank you for the review.

pretty...

the title fits it well. the bells are such a nice touch. i, however, am not a huge fan of the stabs of chords on the off beats....i think the bass and the bells, layered with a different synth, or perhaps a kick or steady beat that would drive the song more, might be more fitting. the concept is great! well done!

quarks123 responds:

hmmmmmm ok good review thanks

epic

phenomenal workl! can definitely envision a hero left standing amidst the destruction....

i envy people who can write piano compositions that evoke so much emotion, while sounding both modern and classical at once. well done.

PenguinSam responds:

When I was writing this, I thought someone would sa that it was epic, and would you look at that. I really hope you actually voted and not just responded. :) Thanks for the huge complement, it means a whole lot.

fantastic!

i have always loved-loved-loved the music from all donkey kong games. the effect here is phenomenal. it has a very crisp sound, even tonalities...well done! i listened to it about 3 times in a row. first song on this site to have made me do so. congrats.

Godknown responds:

I'm thoroughly pleased that YOU are pleased with my work, here. Thanks man.

terrible

your loops are choppy, they don't flow into one another at all. and as for you commentary...please..never speak like that..again...ever...

the concept of the song could work, given the right lyrics. however it doesn't flow, it breaks up between measures.

MC-Q responds:

nice comming from a person who hasnt done shit but reviewd 3 songs.
Actually dis song is supposed to sound like dis a dickface!
Ur Missing The Perspective!!!!!!!!
But as for my commentary its funni
Its suppsed to be a joke and if you dont like it fuck you and move on with your life.
I dont make shit or talk shit jus to please a bitch.
Oh and try to stay outtah the hip hop section
Its not realli for you.

interesting!

i do want to say that i think it's a complete piece of art. you really translated the effect of mental chaos and "spiraling into a pit of despair" quite well. the music conveyed the confusion and stickiness that depression can cause. i was able to listen and appreciate the artistic statement you were trying to make, however, it hurt my ears lol. so kudos on the effect you were aiming for with the music, you succeeded.

td6d responds:

Thanks a lot!
Im very happy you could spot all that in the song, great to hear it from somebody else.
Thanks again :)

finally!

..music that was meant to tell a story! i could envision eactly what you had described., that, in and of itself, is a feat. to paint pictures with sounds, most impressive. i already had a picture set up that was very "dante's inferno" in makeup, and the music fit the bill. perhaps even more of a buildup to the devil taking over the unborn child..drums, perhaps a timpani, would add to the deep rumbling of the evil about to erupt.best of luck to you! i would be interested in hearing the other pieces.

pumodi responds:

I think I might incorporate the timpani roll into the composition.
Initially the only buildup was 4 8th notes right before the "Devil" section on piano.
But I think that would add a bit of needed tension.

Thank you very much. If you would like to hear the overture, it is up here also.
